Best Time to Visit Pushkar

October to March is the ideal window — pleasant days (15–28°C), cool desert evenings and clear skies perfect for sightseeing and photography.

November is special — the world-famous Pushkar Camel Fair lights up the town with colour, music and thousands of camels and traders.

April to June brings the Rajasthan summer (35–42°C). Rooms are quieter and easier to find, but plan early-morning sightseeing.

July to September is monsoon — the desert turns surprisingly green and the lake fills beautifully.

Pushkar Camel Fair Guide

The Pushkar Mela is one of the largest livestock fairs on the planet — held every year in October or November on the day of Kartik Purnima. For a week, the dunes outside Pushkar fill with traders, camels, horses, folk music, hot-air balloons and competitions like the Longest Moustache and Matka Phod.

Rooms across Pushkar sell out months in advance. JSR Palace gets booked early too — message us on WhatsApp as soon as your dates are set and we'll do our best to hold a room for you.

Local Food & Restaurants

Pushkar is a strictly vegetarian town — and proudly so. Don't leave without trying authentic dal-baati-churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker-sangri, malpua and the city's famous rooftop cafés overlooking the lake. Ask us at reception — we'll point you to the favourites locals actually eat at.
